Both are methods of applying fragrance to your body, but each is suited for different occasions and tastes! Perfumes, which are typically much more concentrated and expensive, contain mostly perfumers' alcohol. This is a type of specially denatured alcohol that helps carry the fragrance molecules off the wearer. It gives perfumes their fast dry feeling and strong scent.

Body sprays, on the other hand, are mostly water based with some solvents added to help emulsify the fragrance oil and make the spray smell stronger. Because of their high water content, they are much more affordable than perfumes and can be bought in larger quantities. However, they are typically not as strong smelling or long lasting.

Also, you can always layer complimentary perfumes and body sprays to get the best of both worlds!
