Course Information
How can we fix performance management in a changing world?
There have been many disruptions over the past few decades but there’s none that is as severe as the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. The world is faced with unprecedented disruption, a true “black swan” event. In most economies, the ongoing pandemic has been marked by recession leading to financial trauma, an unpredictable recovery, and persistent uncertainty. Looking to the future leaves every organization to face ever greater challenges to maintain a competitive edge. Many organizations are now at a critical crossroads in terms of performance, growth, and survival.
To increase their competitive advantage and boost business performance in the post-COVID landscape most business leaders may not adopt the classic business improvement levers such as cost-cutting, setting aggressive sales targets, M&A because of the unpredictable recovery and persistent uncertainty, rather their focus will be on growing organically which means they will need a radical step-change in workforce productivity if they are to drive a new growth strategy. This in turn will mean all organizations will have to rethink their approach to performance management if they are to change gear and compete effectively in what is termed Post-Covid World.
Unfortunately, performance management in many organizations is broken. Many organizations are still making the same old mistakes associated with performance management since it has been in use and has failed so miserably that they wound up causing more harm than good to the organization.
Fixing the problem
