Performance Improvement (PI) in a most simple way – a recipe for success

PI is nothing but “moving the needle towards excellence” in an incremental manner. Any positive movement is progress, therefore do not try to move the mountain or boil the ocean. Take small but quick steps with small teams. Do not hesitate to do “Test of Changes” and avoid long conversations and paralysis by analysis. Remember, “One test of change is worth a thousand experts opinions.”
Make sure you have the right boots on the ground. You need 4 to 5 highly motivated and passionate team members who know the process you seek to improve inside out and a fearless leader (process owner) who has the 210% support of an executive sponsor who can help remove barriers to change.
Sustainability is the key. Every project has an end date. They should not be dragged for months and month and then into years. Finally, after achieving the first target, the team should celebrate the success – “The first success is a stepping stone to the next.”
