A performance at Carnegie & a wonderful commission
Rain Worthington
I believe artistic expression is essential to humanity and am pulled toward the potency of awe. My vision is to create immersive environments in which illuminated sculptural spaces resonate with original music.
I would like to share two bits of exciting news for my music in this New Year – a concert at Carnegie Hall, plus a wonderful commission!
First, I’m thrilled to announce Distinguished Concerts International NY (DCINY) will include my short orchestral piece "Still Motion" for their “Perpetual Light” concert program, Sunday, February 16, 2020 at the Stern Auditorium, Carnegie Hall.
The first half of the program will open with Conductor Miran Vaupoti? and the DCINY Orchestra performing works by composers Sergio Cervetti, Arthur Gottschalk, Mark John McEncroe and myself. The second half will feature “Requiem” by English choral composer, John Rutter with Conductor, Jonathan Griffith and the DCINY Orchestra and Singers.
If by any chance you’re in NYC and can attend on Sunday, February 16th, please say hello.
Secondly, and equally exciting for me is a commission from a wonderful violinist, Audrey Wright.
Audrey is Associate Concertmaster of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and the newly appointed Concertmaster of the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra. (And just coincidentally, way before this commission materialized, I, like many of us, was applauding the Baltimore Symphony in their strike to get back on stage.)
So, I was totally thrilled when I got word that she wanted to commission me to write a short piece for her. I love her exquisite musicianship and sensitivity, and am pouring my heart into this piece. Check out her performance videos.
Thanks as always for your support and positive wishes, Rain
