Perfection Not Needed
I've dreamed about writing a blog or book for many years, but perfection and fear stopped me. Dealing with imposter syndrome at that time in my life, I thought I had to have every I dotted and every t crossed, but in reality, that wasn't necessary.
So, as I drink my words, let's cheers to the beginning of something new. Join me for our many conversations as we Steer Towards Greatness. Some conversations will be about my personal or professional journeys, whereas others will be gems and epiphanies I've had while learning something new.
If you've been following me for some time, you've heard me say, "Go be great," on all my posts. You may have wondered why I say that. My desire in life is to maintain a standard of excellence and always do things, keeping in mind the greatness I have within.
I want to be transparent. My desire for greatness and excellence has grown over time. Growing up, I always knew I would do something great, but I wasn't sure what that would be. I smile as I think of all the great things I've been blessed to do and the many other great things I will soon do.
While greatness and excellence are essential to me, I've learned that many others don't share this core value or desire. We're living in a time when being mediocre is the norm, striving for excellence is challenged, and everything must happen immediately. Falling into that category in some areas of my life, I have to constantly remind myself to live out my core values rather than solely say them.
Hearing the buzzwords of Imposter Syndrome, I questioned if I was still battling that common struggle for many by seeking excellence. As I journaled my thoughts, asked some of my closest friends about their thoughts, and continued learning about myself, I was blessed to see that I wasn't struggling with imposter syndrome. The reality was that I had overcome imposter syndrome and now wanted my goal to be doing everything well versus to a mediocre standard.
If you are dealing with Imposter Syndrome, think about the questions below.
?? What are the common words that you say to yourself? And, are those words helping or hindering you?

?? What are the challenges that you have overcome in the past? And what did you learn from that situation(s)?
?? Are you setting realistic expectations for yourself?
My mom always says, "To thine own self be true." When you answer those questions, really be honest with yourself.
Stay tuned for our next conversation, and remember to follow me if you haven't already.
Remember, Be you! Be Great! Be Bold! Be Authentic and do that Fearlessly!
Go be great,
