Perfection is the Enemy of Progress!

Perfection is the Enemy of Progress!

Finding Perfection in People, Things & Situations is good to an extent but many of us, may be unknowingly, become slaves of our own habit of Perfection!

In anything we do, in anything we want to get done, and in anything & everything we come across...we want it to be just Picture Perfect! And that's where the problem starts...! Because Nothing is and can ever be 100% Perfect in this whole world, we just need to understand this fact to get out of this slavery!

Excess of Perfection; in any given situation; leads to...

  • Overthinking - eventually overinvesting Time & Energy, our valuable & scarce resource!
  • Analysis Paralysis, Delay or Failure in execution
  • No decision-making, which can be worse than a wrong decision!
  • Frustration, Anger, Stress, in the Perfectionist!

How this Habit of Perfection could have taken deep roots in an individual? I feel 'perfection' is somewhere in our 'innate', and we keep building on this over a period of time; unknowingly.

Even after realizing it's shortcomings, one might not be able to give-up on his/her Perfection 100%, but with awareness of it's adverse effects (from our own & other's experiences) and our own will, we can always work towards DILUTING this habit.

Everything is changing, everything is moving in this world, even our own mind for that matter constantly changes, so let's forget about controlling others mind & actions and expecting perfection all the time!

So in life; with People, Things & Situations, we should always have some room for IMPERFECTION! As Winston Churchill once said, “perfection is the enemy of progress.”
