Is There A Perfect Workflow?
Many professionals ask me regularly if there is a perfect workflow? The simple answer is no, it is a simple answer because even if the goals do not change the goal posts change or move around to be more precise. In this article, I will list some points on how you can make perfect your existing workflow, or make them more bearable.
Know Your Limits
It is important to realize the potential and talents of your team and your organization, there has to some wriggle room with time or the number of sprints in your organization. If the project is beyond your usual cup of tea, it is better to be understanding than to be demanding.
Reachable Goals
It better to start with the goals which you know are feasible with your team, make the goals bigger with each spirit. This gives the team a sense of progress, even if the goals are small it does not matter as long as there is a kinetic energy with the team.
Compartmentalize
This applies to the team and their workload, make sure that the team is working on multiple projects so as to avoid burnouts. Make a separate team for the project, they too need to feel like there are other goals to achieve as well. This is different from being distracted from multiple projects.
Mind The Gap
The point of making these changes was to fill the gaps in the existing workflow, make sure that all the issues associated with the existing workflows are addressed.
Existing Workflow
Add these changes to your existing workflow, add is a strong word, imprint these changes is better, so do that. Let the team know that they are in a much more better version of the existing workflow, this gives them the comfort of the familiar with the freshness of the small changes.
It is important to understand that the existing workflows are a product of years and years of evolution. The existing models have gone through multiple trials across multiple verticals and industries. We are not reinventing the wheel here, we are just making more comfortable for our liking.
