Perfect vs. Good

Our lives are becoming busier and busier; we’re being bombarded with more and more stimulus and it feels like the world is spinning faster.
On top of this, in business, the five-year plan has become the three year plan, which is really code for “let’s focus on the next quarter and have an idea about the next 12 months”. Does this sound familiar?
Maybe a bit of an exaggeration . . . but this is the feeling in the corporate world.
The reality is, it’s easy to fix! I find the busier someone is, the less they prioritise and focus on what matters. The fact is, the busier they are, focusing on priorities that really matter is what counts.
On top of this, the next issue that tends to arise is the thought that “if I’m doing less, it must be perfect”.
Our key focus at the moment is “don’t let perfect get in the way of good”.
If you spend too much time overthinking things in such a fast-moving world, that concept or idea will be overlooked by the next good idea.
Key learnings are – make it good and improve, but perfect will never happen so don’t kill yourself looking for it.
How do YOU find the balance between perfect vs good?

3 年Chris Beer the fear of failure makes people strive for perfect. That’s great if you have time on your side, but the last year has taught us we don’t and we need to adapt quickly in order to stay relevant. I like to take a calculated risk with a “test and learn” approach. #leadershiplesson
