The insights I share are drawn from my firsthand experience as an Expert Vetted freelancer on Upwork. My goal is to share my knowledge and help others thrive in their freelance journey.
- If possible, find the client's name from their previous engagements and address them with a simple 'Hi' or 'Hello.'
- Summarise the entire job description (JD) in a sentence, showing your eagerness.
- Offer a concise comment on the JD if necessary.
- Highlight your experience that aligns best with the JD. Use the same language, keywords, or terms from the JD for clarity.
- Detail relevant projects, qualifications, or skills you possess that match the JD.
- Ideally, draw connections between the required skills and your experiences/projects.
- Keep each point concise (1-2 lines). Since Upwork doesn’t support bullet points, use hyphens for listing, and avoid lengthy paragraphs.
- Outline how you intend to tackle the client's project.
- For brief JDs, provide a detailed yet concise blueprint of your strategy, capitalizing on key points mentioned in the JD.
- Align with the client's timeline and budget. Reiterate their vision or mission to show alignment and drive.
- Craft this in a succinct manner, ideally one impactful sentence.
- Keep it brief. Simply conclude with "Warm regards," or use a closing that mirrors the client's language if they've indicated a preference.
