Is there a PERFECT time to send your email?

Is there a PERFECT time to send your email?

Did you miss me? It’s ok, I know you didn’t notice. This, the 4th edition of the newsletter was due out a week (or so) ago. But that didn’t happen, so here we are, shuffled along a little bit!

I’m trying to create a more formulaic approach to these newsletters, you know – one tip, one biz thing, general interest?links & maybe a bit of Han life.

When is 7am not the best time to send an email? (email tip)

Simply put, when it's not.?The best time of day to send an email depends on your audience.

That’s not a get out, it’s a fact.

When are your ideal people opening their emails, when are they taking the time to read what you’re sending??

For B2B, sending emails?during the traditional working week might be the best option, but arguably, your ideal client has their head buried in work and with emails coming from various directions, they might not notice?yours.?Instead, it could be?the one that arrives at 9pm when they’ve just sat down with a cup of tea. Or on a Sunday at 11am when the kids are at football and they have a moments peace.

The same goes for B2C, when is it your readers are going into their inbox and reading your email? Is it at lunchtime? When the kids having their tea? Or perhaps first thing before anyone else is up?

One quick and easy way to see when your readers open your email is to look at your analytics. Head to your latest campaign, open up the report and look at the handy graph usually called 'opens in the first 24 hours' (this is pretty standard across platforms).?

In these graphs, generated by ChatGPT (eventually),?you can see the first one shows most opens happen immediately after it’s been sent with a gradual drop off. In graph two however, it starts lower, then increases and drops down.

If you’re seeing results like graph one, you may not want to rock the boat, however, if you’re seeing a response such as graph 2, you may want to test sending your email out a few hours later.

Things to remember:

  1. You can’t please/catch everyone
  2. Test and measure!

Keeping up with the IG trends (biz thing)

Ha! Yes, who am I to rock up with any advice about Instagram? I know, but this is more of did you know than a tip.

Last week I learnt that while POV on all those reels you see does mean?point of view, it’s not in the way I thought which explains why I find the posts so damn confusing. Thanks for clarifying?Hannah!?In my mind POV takes me back to?Points of View?the Anne Robinson show where viewers would wang on about how terrible the BBC was.*

But no, it relates to your literal viewpoint, the one you see with your eyes. All those times I scrolled through POV reels saying, but that’s not an opinion, not realising the whole point of them…for shame! Please tell me I am not alone on this.

The next time you see a new trend that doesn’t make sense, look it up or ask someone younger than you!

It’s at this point where I truly do think I’m going to jack it all in and stick to?LinkedIn, it feels so nice and safe!

*No apologies made for the hour or so you will lose watching old episodes of POV!

All the shares (handy links thing)

Watching:

Blue Lights Series 2: we watched the final episode last night. If you haven’t watched it, start with series 1 and if you’re anything like me, don’t watch it too close to bedtime. It’s tense, it’s emotional.?Watch here

Playing:

Travle: you have to navigate from one country to another by naming the countries that come in between within a certain number of guesses. For example, Singapore to the UK in 15 moves or less. Very distracting.?Play here

Listening:

Various on BookBeat. I’ve mentioned this app before but today they sent me a ‘recommend to a friend’ link. If you decide to sign up, you get to listen to 30 hours of audio over 90 days for free and they give me?30 days. BookBeat is a cross between your library audio book service & audible. You don’t own the books, but you can listen to whatever is in the library provided it is within your monthly hours allowance. Prices start at £5.99 for 20 hours per month, but like I say this code will give you free access for 90 days. IF they ask for your bank details and you’re not using it/enjoying it?DO NOT FORGET TO CANCEL.?

#AFLink: BookBeat?voucher runs out 16/06/2024

Reading:

The Last Witch of Scotland by Philip Paris. I am outraged, angered and fascinated by the persecution of mostly women (except Iceland) under the guise of ‘witchcraft’. Which translates to, if you don’t fall in line, we will accuse you. I loved this book, which is described as?Haunting and deeply moving, The Last Witch of Scotland is a story of love, loyalty and sacrifice, inspired by the true story of the last person to be executed for witchcraft in Britain.?Black & White Publishing

Lastly?

I don’t want to get too political on you, but we do have a General Election coming up.?Register to vote?by 11.59pm 18th June 2024?- that's TODAY!!!!

Shared briefly as a post here a couple of weeks ago, in case you missed it, let’s all welcome Colin the static caravan to the Swierstra family. Once we have the ground levelled and?him anchored down & plumbed in this will be our new home for the foreseeable as we move out of our gaff for the BIG reno project.
