Have you ever heard the saying:
"Your website is your shop window"
Now more than ever people turn to the internet to do their due diligence on a company and to satisfy themselves that you as an individual or the company that you are promoting are 'safe to do business with'.
Here at the Society of Will Writers and Estate Planning Practitioners we promote the need to have a valid Will, and our 'find a member' search function links through to our member's websites directly.
It is therefore essential that to be able to catch this traffic and to provide perfect peace of mind that you should have a website that is engaging and fit for purpose.
What makes your website a 'perfect shop window'?
Firstly you should give serious consideration to what information you provide on the site and whether this would answer the questions of those visitors who have come to it?
Things I would be sure to add are clear instructions on how someone can contact you. Perhaps an integrated contact form too (pretty common across most sites).
Make sure that the website is easy to navigate. Clear menus and pages are essential to reducing your bounce rate - someone leaving your website without spending any time on the site.
Have clear branding on the site. Make sure your logo commands a prominent position so that a prospective client knows the company they have come through to without needing to recheck the URL.
Lastly make sure that as well as having adequate and engaging information on your site that it is also visually or aesthetically pleasing. Your images should be hyperlinked to the relevant page on which they point to and they should not offend the website visitor.
All pretty common sense stuff but will give food for thought when ensuring your website is up to scratch.
