Not too long ago in India, medical tests were a common asks by any employer. I'd get anxious and draw strength from all of my good habits like exercising daily and whisper a silent prayer, in hopes that my smoking (which I quit) would be ignored.
Thankfully not me or any of my friends ever came across any rejection due to health reasons in any of these pre-employment. For the simple reason that these tests were out of sync with the reality and requirement and perhaps just done to satisfy a trend.
Fast forward to year 2021, every employer now knows that a weak immune system could be dangerous in an occupation that requires approaching a group of people. With your weak immune system (allergy, asthma, etc) and your competitor not having any, whom do you think would or should get the job?
Cutting across all the BS possible in the "for and against arguments", the stronger immunity should be the logical choice post-corona.
But where does this leave an employer? The most vulnerable entity (legally of course)? Should the employers now become extra indulgent in their present and future employee's health records? In absence of any detailed medical records/history available in India, employers might have to resort to using detective agencies, as they use for background verification. Am sure, that is not going to be cheap or foolproof either.
The only way to go forward is the way of Bio and/or Tech solutions together!
Another revolution is waiting on our doorsteps, but the question is are we ready to face it? Not as a continent, not as a country, not as a state or province, the question is are we ready to become strong organizationally?

3 年I like the caption "The Perfect Post-Corona employee". I believe it should fall under PTSD now.
