Having a brilliant idea, without implementation is equivalent to not having any kind of brilliant idea. Plus, if you don’t really own capital to invest in your project, you need investors. The best way to communicate a business idea to investors is to write a clear and efficient Pitch Deck.
My name is Giorgio Torre, I have 10 years international experience in PM and BM and this, is a content by HUBIBI.
It doesn’t matter the form, it could be a PP presentation, a textual document, a printed brochure or both. You need to represent the idea in a few space and convince your potential investors that they are gonna put their money into something that will produce huge returns.
So guys, First of all
- Do not exceed 15 pages: VCs and Ais use to read tons of PDs every year. You have between 5 and 7 minutes to impress your potential investors
- Stay high level on the Tech details but be precise on the financial numbers. At the end of the day, Investors are putting their money expecting a potential return
- The communication is fundamental. Differentiating your psychological approach according to different type of investors is essential,
Now let me show you page by page, how a killer pitch deck should look like, in the case of a Pre-seed start-up. So basically, this is what you have write if all you have now is just an idea. You don’t have already a product or service or MVP, you just have the idea:
Page 1…..The name of of your startup with basic information like for example the name of founders, the year, some headlines etc
Page 2…. Information about the leadership and founders with max 3 bullet points profile resume. Alternatively you can use this page as an empty space
Page 3…. The problem your startup aims to solve in the current market
Page 4….. The solution. Be high level in explaining how you think your product will fix a market gap
Page 5… Technology or How it works. Provide here a clear idea about the technology that you startup will be equipped by
Page 6…. Opportunity. Here you just show as much direct as you can the volumes of: TAM, Available Market and Achievable Market. I m gonna make another video where I will explain the differences and how to compute them
Page 7… This is an optional slide, which might eventually pitch some of the investor psychology biases in influencing his decision about whether to invest or not: Key market Trends. Just report core information about how the market is moving and put emphasis on the fact that your startup is perfectly riding the market drivers. In other words, the investor shall see a correlation between your product and the key market trends
Slide 8… Mission and Vision. Remember, Mission is what you want to achieve in a short timeframe. Vision is how you see your product in the future or the final form of you perfect product.
Slide 9….Business Model. Underline here how you think you will make money and for what you will need to spend for. Basically all you have to do is just reporting revenue streams and outgoings
Slide 10…. Competition: List your competitors and be transparent in reporting the information about them. My suggestion here is to use colors to remark the competitive advantages that your product has on the others. You have to be good in showing how your startup will be the best once on the market
Slide 11….Revenue or Returns forecast vs Invested amount: be direct, give your potential investor the information he is more interested in: how much money to invest ? try to simplify the visualization by minimizing the presence of textual content
Slide 12….Add key metrics to be monitored across the startup life cycle. Some of them could be Nr. Of users, CAC, EBITDA Margin and others.
Slide 13… Income Statement…You could add here a balance sheet but the most representative financial statement for early-stage startup is the income statement. After knowing how much does he need to spend, the next question will be: “ how will the money will be spent?”
Slide 14….Partnerships with 3rd party services. Showing big and trustworthy names next to your logo is a. valuable pitcher
If you want you can also add an Additional Slide. here Just add a Thank you signature or something like that. Just simply show your potential investors that you appreciated the time they dedicated in listening your idea.
