A Perfect One-page Resume
We do not subscribe to the "resumes need to be 1 page" philosophy. However...
If you are able to fit all your content into a single page and feel confident selling yourself, that is a great way to combat the fatigue a hiring manager might be facing after reading dozens of other resumes.
And, in some instances, a one-page resume is preferred (new grads, young professionals, some sales/business roles)...
No matter your situation, it is useful to know what a great one-page resume looks like so here's one that I made to show you how it's done!
(Take a look and then read below as I explain what I did to make this work)
How we made it work
Maximizing Space: There are 3 things we did to ensure we could fit as much on the page as possible:
领英推荐
Branding: We start with a single professional title on the same line as our name so as not to take up more space. Then we have a short professional summary and 3-4 lines of key skills. This is plenty of branding but doesn't take up too much space.
Experience: We keep the bullet points to just our most essential and impressive experience, and then when we get back to 10+ years ago and/or our lower-level and less relevant positions, we just list them as line items with no bullet points under "Early Career Experience."
Technical Skills: A simple list of technical skills will check off ATS scanner requirements without taking up much space so this is an easy win.
Education: We fit that in one line and we're good!
