The Perfect 6-Month Plan to Get Fit for Summer

The Perfect 6-Month Plan to Get Fit for Summer

“This is the year I’ll get in shape.”

Fast forward to June, and you're still wearing oversized shirts to hide the belly that “snuck up on you.”

Getting fit for Summer doesn’t require a 6-hour-a-day gym grind, bland chicken and broccoli, or a 21-year-old influencer yelling “no excuses!” at you.

It takes strategy, consistency, and a willingness to improve day by day.

After coaching busy leaders for 20+ years, and competing in bodybuilding competitions myself, I’ve seen what works and what definitely doesn’t.

So here’s your perfect 6-month plan: a realistic, no-nonsense, and dare I say… fun approach to reclaiming your health and confidence by Summer.

Month 1: Fix the Foundation

Most people fail because they jump straight to extreme workouts or fad diets.

Big mistake.

The first month is all about small wins:

  • Nutrition: Keep eating out if you need to, but implement the “half plate rule.” Half your plate should be lean protein and veggies, every meal.
  • Workouts: Start small. Three 30-minute dumbbell sessions at home are enough.
  • Sleep: Set a bedtime alarm. You’re not 25 anymore; Netflix can wait.

Months 2-3: Build the Habit

By now, the excuses will start to creep in:

“I don’t see enough results yet.”

“I’m too busy this week.”

Discipline will carry you through when motivation checks out. So focus on these:

  • Nutrition Tweaks: Start tracking your food. No need to go crazy. You’ll be shocked at how much those “healthy” snacks add up.
  • Workouts: Add progression. Lift heavier weights. Push for one more rep. You’re stronger than you think.
  • Mindset: Write down your why. Is it to feel confident at the beach? To keep up with your kids? To lead your business with energy and presence? Put it where you can see it daily.

During my bodybuilding prep, I didn’t feel like training 80% of the time. But I did it anyway because my why was bigger than my excuses.

Months 4-5: The Transformation Zone

This is where the magic happens. You’ll start to notice that your clothes fit better, you have more energy for your business and family.

People ask, “What are you doing differently?”

By now, you’ve built momentum. Keep going.

  • Nutrition: Stay consistent. No crash diets. You didn’t gain weight overnight, and you won’t lose it overnight either.
  • Workouts: Consider adding cardio, 20-30 mins daily, low-intensity. Plus a brisk 20-minute walk after dinner works wonders.
  • Mindset: Celebrate your wins. Every pound lost, every extra push-up, every healthy meal—all of it counts.

Month 6: Peak Season Prep

By now, you’re in the best shape you’ve been in years. The final stretch is about dialling things in:

  • Fine-tune nutrition: Most likely it's time to cut some extra calories, but by now your resilience and momentum will be stronger than your excuses.
  • Maximize performance: You’ll feel stronger, leaner, and more confident. Channel that into every area of your life.
  • Mindset shift: By now, it’s not just about getting fit for summer, it’s about becoming the leader you’re meant to be: for your business, your family, and yourself.

In six months, you can completely transform your life, IF you start now.

The excuses won’t disappear, but neither will the consequences of ignoring your health.

I’ve been where you are: juggling a business, family, and everything in between.

I’ve coached leaders who thought they were “too far gone” to make a change, only to watch them reclaim their health, confidence, and energy in ways they didn’t think possible.

Let’s make this the summer you become unstoppable.

Are you ready?
