Perceptions strongly influences our thinking ---

In visual perception a color is almost never seen as it really is - as it physically is. This fact makes color the most relative medium in art.

Take a sound from whatever source, a note on a violin, a scream, a moan, a creaking door, and there is always this symmetry between the sound basis, which is complex and has numerous characteristics which emerge through a process of comparison within our perception.

The more I learn to understand people (myself included), the more I find that each of us brings our own eye wear to a situation. Those glasses (or lenses) help us see the world in a very unique way. As a result, we can use our experiences and the understanding of those experiences to be creative and unlock the mysteries of our world.

At the same time, those glasses can lead us to see only what we want or have been trained to see. We take someone's action and assume meaning based on our own perspectives, experiences, beliefs, bias, interests, and known patterns.

Unfortunately, our perspectives may seem real, justified, and the truth (as we know it), but I've learned that it's not always the case.

How then do we deal with the knowledge that our perspective is not the entire truth?

?In my opinion, it requires one to remain open to other views, experiences, and perspectives. It is when we seek to understand the other points of view that what is true becomes clear.

My perspective: It's our own generated collection of thoughts and conclusions on a particular subject which could lead to distortion and being skewed. Whereas, policy, standards, law, and documented guidelines leads us to focus, zero-in on a specific outcome regardless of our biases that leads us to the truth.

We most likely all have some understanding, at least, of the meaning of the concept behind the saying "perception is reality".

However, how many of us are truly aware of "how" this "perception vs reality concept" actually plays out in our daily lives?

Thank you?….Perceptions strongly influence our thinking, attitudes, decisions and actions and an idea of the importance of ones "perceptions" in the scheme of things can be gleaned by the use of the word "everything" .

Often in our busy lives we run largely on auto pilot viewing the world before us through our own set of personal filters (our filters are made up of our experiences, beliefs and values and filters are what create our perceptions) and we see things the way we see them because that's the way we see them!

This change in view point creates a different perspective... which enables a different perception... which creates a different understanding of what might be the reality... which affects what we might think and or decide to do next.

Every person has a different view of another person's image. That's all perception. The character of a man, the integrity, that's who you are.

Music is at once the product of feeling and knowledge, for it requires from its disciples, composers and performers alike, not only talent and enthusiasm, but also that knowledge and perception which are the result of protracted study and reflection.

Do you want to add a word or two?....

Next time you are grappling with something or stuck or unsure or frustrated try shifting/changing/altering your point of view and try looking at the problem or issue from different ways/angles/attitudes with different outcomes in mind or in specific ways etc - you will be absolutely amazed at how your view of reality will change when you change your perception by changing your point of view.

We can all go through life living as if what we do on a daily basis doesn't really matter that much and maybe we think we can separate some of our actions from others.

But in reality everything is linked and if we act against our true values at work or in business and then expel the virtues of a good life at home, somewhere it will catch up with us.

Your Comments……

This is called "in-congruence"(in agreement) – when our actions or those actions asked of us are in conflict with our true values. It will cause unrest and uneasiness and often cause great anger – you can live with it and many people do but it’s really not much fun.

You can’t change your values but your values do change over time, as we change as people, and you can spend some time eliciting your values and exploring them and getting to understand what’s truly important to you.

I often work with clients on helping them elicit and understand their personal and business values. When done properly this creates a powerful foundation for all else that follows.

I know for a fact that when your values, decisions and actions are aligned then what you think, what you say, and what you do will in fact be in harmony….. you will find not only happiness but much prosperousness also.

Bad news arrived in a single white envelope. It didn't look threatening from the outside, but the contents that lay within stunned me. Black words typed against a clean sheet of paper delivered devastating news.

I could feel my heart racing in my chest. The invisible weight added to my shoulders felt even heavier than before. Like boiling water, I could sense the tension brewing as the noise in my head intensified and became distorted.

Nothing seemed appropriate to ease the discomfort that I was feeling in that moment.?No amount of screaming, crying, or even writing would take it all away.?

I just needed a moment of silence so that I could think clearly on what I should do next. I verbally puked words that were filled with confusion, fear, disappointment, and embarrassment until I had nothing left to say. I was fully exposed, completely empty, and in that moment everything fell quiet and still.?

Nobody likes to struggle and it is often something we want to avoid because it's scary, difficult, and uncomfortable. However, I have come to realize that the struggle wields the power to improve us and help us reach our highest potential. ?It is through our weakness that we find strength and purpose. Despite our worst fears, the only way through is through. As we prepare for this day, let us fully embrace the challenges of our life. Instead of running away from what's difficult, how about rolling up our sleeves, planting our feet, and squaring off against the beast. ?It is through adversity that we learn who we are and what we are capable of achieving. Remember, you are a champion and you're stronger than you know. ?Make today a really great day!
