Hi there &?welcome to our September edition!
Last month we talked about reflecting on the year that's been, reassessing priorities and realigning to our goals to maximise the rest of 2022.
Speaking of goals, I can't let the opportunity pass to celebrate Australia's success at the Commonwealth games, with a total tally of 178 medals, including a staggering 67 golds, 57 silvers & 54 bronzes! Not to mention topping the para-sport medal table?with 37 medals overall, including 13 golds!
As we kick off Spring (and Grand Final frenzy!), what can professional sports teams, record-breaking?athletes, coaches and high?performers across all areas teach us about setting, smashing, and sometimes not smashing goals?
A fundamental part is obviously implementing structures and practices to support goal attainment, while distinguishing between 'final goals' versus 'performance goals'. For example, if your final goal is running a marathon, the performance goals are what will get you there, like a regular training schedule (and some good shoes...).
The other key components? The?mental and emotional aspects?that motivate you to get up and put on your trainers / tie / ballet shoes / game face, instead of hitting snooze. I'm talking mindset, resilience, self-awareness...
