PepsiCo Exceeds Three Important Water Goals

PepsiCo Exceeds Three Important Water Goals

Water is essential to PepsiCo’s success. We use it to make our beverages, and we rely on it to help grow and process the crops that we use in our snack and food products. And you may be proud to know that in 2009, PepsiCo was among the first companies of its size to formally and publicly recognize water as a basic human right. Since that time we’ve made great strides to reduce our water footprint and provide people with access to safe water in communities around the world.

PepsiCo’s water experts and partners are attending and speaking at the Stockholm International Water Institute’s (SIWI) World Water Week, which takes place this week and is the leading annual global event for addressing global water issues. And, they’ll get to talk about some exciting news that was just announced: three of our major water milestones have not only been achieved – but exceeded!

"All across PepsiCo, we continue to find innovative new ways to grow our business while using fewer natural resources—water among them," said Mehmood Khan, vice chairman and chief scientific officer, PepsiCo Global Research and Development. "By driving down our operational water use and replenishing water within the local watershed, promoting innovative agricultural practices that yield more crop per drop, and enabling access to safe water and sanitation for millions of people, we have achieved important progress and are committed to doing much more in the years ahead."

Learn more about some of our past water milestones, check out (and re-tweet, if you’d like) this animated graphic which highlights one of the water goals we exceeded, and tell us, in the comments below, why our recent water achievements make you #PepsiCoProud.

I think every corporation and government should be as forward thinking as Pepsico. My job has been water procurement and remediation in the Niger Delta, upper Baja and the Salton sea using solar thermal processes. I have received much government push back. PepsiCo is truly a global thinking company. All flesh is grass but all grass, is water. Good work Laura and Dr. Khan..
