Meet Beth Gartner! Beth's recruiting career began on August 1, 2000, so people are often surprised to learn that Beth's BS degree is in Elementary and Special Education (from the University of Delaware) and that she taught 2nd grade for three years after graduating.  It was a rewarding experience, but she got the itch to try something else. Beth started looking for a new job online and found that she was continually drawn to recruiting-related job descriptions. She loves her work and believes talent acquisition is perfect for her because it’s focused on building relationships, earning credibility, and helping people, all of which are common threads with teaching, and she has never looked back.

Over the last two plus decades, Beth has recruited across disciplines, industries, and levels. This includes financial services, R&D, supply chain, QA/Regulatory, HR, manufacturing operations, risk advisory, IT, AdTech, digital marketing, and more. She has built and run an internship program for college students, hired Vice Presidents for Fortune 500s, and recruited talent for countless positions in between.

Beth joined People*Strata in early December 2021. Until then, she had always recruited in-house, and now in her role with People*Strata she recruits for external clients but operates as an internal part of their team. People*Strata functions as an extension of clients HR, TA and/or Leadership team. It’s a true strategic partnership with the mutual goal of identifying and landing top talent to meet the client’s business needs.

Beth says, “Like every market, the current environment has its challenges. First, there have been numerous layoffs, yet many of the people impacted are still seeking large compensation packages. Second, the so-called “Great Resignation” is not over. So, loyalty has decreased on both sides of the employment equation which hurts continuity, culture, and the bottom line. Third, an increasing number or companies expect employees to work on-site at least some of the time, while a high percentage of candidates will only consider remote opportunities. While there is a need for all parties to be flexible, candidates still seem to have the upper hand, so most companies must give more than they take for the foreseeable future.”
