PEOPLE&PLANET: Newsletter #29 English

PEOPLE&PLANET: Newsletter #29 English

February is a very special month for us. Not only is it when we present our annual results, but we’ve also seen many of our regenerative infrastructure projects progress. For example, we’re celebrating the completion of a mega-tunnel for the biggest infrastructure project in our history: Line 6 of the S?o Paulo metro. We’re also finalizing the installation of wind turbine generators at one of our most iconic wind farms in North America. And below we report on more landmarks achieved during the last month.

Spoiler: you will discover a desalination plant assuring quality water supply in Australia and get to know one of our #ACCIONAteam colleagues from the country (an influencer, no less), as well learn about a donut that could save the planet.

Let’s get started!

ACCIONA POSTS €422 MILLION AND CLOSES THE YEAR WITH A RECORD TURNOVER OF €19.19 BILLION

February is synonymous with results. And we are delighted to report that we closed 2024 with record sales, increased the total installed capacity of ACCIONA Energía, grew revenues at Nordex, sustained growth in our business areas…

ACCIONA CLOSES TWO LINES OF FINANCING WORTH US$220 MILLION FOR TRANSMISSION LINES IN PERU

Building infrastructure to integrate into the electricity grid is just as important as generating renewable energy. This is an important objective and why we continue to reinforce the transmission network in countries such as Peru and Australia.

Details here.

ACCIONA ENERGíA COMPLETES WIND TURBINE INSTALLATION FOR FORTY MILE WIND FARM

February was not just the coldest month in Canada (nothing new there), but also the one in which we celebrated a milestone at our biggest wind farm in North America: Forty Mile, in Alberta, where we completed the installation of all the wind turbine generators.

Here we explain more about a project which will contribute to driving energy transition in the country.

ACCIONA COMPLETES THE TUNNEL FOR THE FUTURE LINE 6-ORANGE OF THE S?O PAULO METRO

How we love tunnel boring machines! Watching them in action couldn’t be more fascinating! One of them, named “Maria Leopoldina”, has reached S?o Joaquim station, linking up all 15 future stations of Line 6 of the S?o Paulo metro, the biggest infrastructure project we’ve undertaken in our century-old history.

SUSTAINABILITY

CAN A DONUT HELP SAVE THE PLANET?

We’re very proud to inaugurate our collaboration with Ethic in our activesustainability.com website with this really interesting article by Pablo Cerezal in which he asks if it’s possible a donut could save the planet. Yes it is, as you’ll find out. The theory is highly worth knowing and advocated by economist Kate Raworth, who applied the analogy of a donut to propose an economic model based on the regeneration of the planet and distribution of well-being.
