Can you share your journey in technology and how you initially became interested in this industry??

It started in high school after our school received a sponsorship for a computer lab. The school had students assist with the setup of the lab. I fell in love with it instantly. I taught myself basic coding and then helped give other students lessons. I won’t give my age away by mentioning the languages.?

What challenges have you faced throughout your career as a woman in a traditionally male-dominated space, and how did you overcome them??

You would hope that in 2023, this question would be moot, but unfortunately, for many STEM women, this is still a daily struggle. I find the only way to overcome these stereotypes and generalisations is by calling people out in the moment, by advocating for other women and myself, and by constantly driving the narrative for an inclusive and diverse environment. The time to be subdued or subtle in our approach is long gone.?

Were there any specific moments or experiences that made you realise the importance of gender diversity in the technology field?

I have had many of these moments during my career, but I will reflect on a very recent implementation completed within record time globally. The Project Manager, Business Analyst, Delivery Lead: Platforms and Systems, Delivery Lead: Data and Analytics, Data Architect and Product Manager (Me) are all phenomenal women in tech. Our vendor and implementation partner also had a diverse women-led team, and the relationship we fostered helped bring this across the line.?

We won the Salesforce Challenger award 2022. We delivered within a record 120 business days.

Could you share any advice or lessons learned for young women who aspire to pursue a career in the technology field?

Surround yourself with a great support system and be that for others, do not shrink yourself to fit in, take up space and lean into your passion. Keep seeking knowledge and have a growth mindset.?
