FOR THE PEOPLE...BY THE PEOPLE

THE TRUTH ABOUT HOMELESSNESS
DRUG and ALCOHOL ADDICTION, SPOUSAL and CHILD ABUSE, MENTAL ILLNESS, SOCIAL DISORDERS, RUNAWAYS and THROWAWAYS are just a few of the many reasons anyone, at anytime can become homeless.Three years ago, on any given night nearly 600,000 individuals were homeless and 23% of them were children under the age of 18. I highly recommend reading this blog from The Economist
In this blog, we have two presidents with obviously two different views on homelessness, but the main thing that I want to point out is this;"Where is the progress...Where is the change"?
Our Government allocates about $13 billion in federal grants just for the shelter system...$13 BILLION...and this does not include the private or individual donations. I'm not saying that the shelter system is not appreciated; what I am saying is that it is a dinosaur and it is not working. THE WORLD CHANGED AND THE SHELTER SYSTEM DIDN'T. Because the shelter system hasn't changed, it does not address the challenges, issues, or obstacles presented by today's economy. Worst than that, the shelter system has become a revolving door: A revolving door that benefits companies and corporations, not the homeless. When the monthly cost required to house a homeless couple in a 8x10 room is more than the monthly rent of a 1 or 2 bedroom apartment, you have to start questioning who is the shelter system really serving. Shelters were originally established to offer temporary emergency assistance, normally 30 days to 6 months. Not now...regardless what the stats say, most homeless individuals beat the system by just doing what the policy requires to keep getting assistance, but not rehabilitation.
HERE IS WHERE GOD'S HOUSE MAKE A DIFFERENCE
- GOD'S HOUSE is not a homeless shelter, but a rehabilitation center for the homeless.
- We don't offer temporary assistance, but a complete 2 year/3 phase program to change the course of homelessness.
- Our objective is change and our programs are designed to achieve change...NO REVOLVING DOORS!!!
- By avoiding federal funding, we can avoid the policies and regulations that does not implement change. You can offer the right programs in your mission statement, but if they are not implemented; it's not just a waste...IT'S A LIE!!!
HERE IS WHERE YOU MAKE THE DIFFERENCE
There is absolutely no way that we can do this alone. We plan to put a GOD'S HOUSE facility in every major city in the United States: An all-out, aggressive attack against homelessness. I truly believe that if we can get the word out about GOD'S HOUSE and the approach we have against homelessness, the impact will not only have a positive effect against homelessness, but unemployment and the overall economy as well. We need $1 from every breathing American. I know that this is reaching for the moon, but we have already been to the moon. If you donate @ www.gods-house.org and spread the word...WE CAN DO THIS!!!
