People work just for money or not?

I work only for money if you want loyalty hire a dog..!!

I read this meme on social networks platform since long time:

I don’t know who is the author but brings trivial thoughts to me. Which is the edge between be a good employer and being exploited? Which is the balance between what you give to the company and what you get back?

All such questions are legitimate, but let me start from the meme sentence and see what I don’t like.

I work for money.!

This first part is for employers. Well, my dear, If you think that you are at the end. Everybody works for money. You, your colleagues, your boss, the CEO. The difference is that you work?also?for money. This small world, just four letters, makes the difference. Yes, you have a contract and the contract tells that you sell 8 hours per day to the company to get back the money. But this isn’t all. The time you sell won’t come back. You can be the most well-paid employer in the world, but the time you spend working never will come back. That’s why I said you don’t work for money. You work for yourself. You work to have a roof on your head and sleep every night without asking what you will eat tomorrow. This seems silly today, but yesterday and still nowadays in most parts of the world having food and a house is a privilege.

So, my first objection is that you don’t’ work for money, you work for the things you need (and that can be bought with money).


I want your loyalty.!

Dear EMPLOYERs, loyalty is something you cannot buy. No matter how much you can pay for it. You can offer a big salary and refund extra hours but in the end, if you keep all on the money level, as people will be offered more from the competitors you will lose people. We live in a global world so it is always easier to change your company. Some decades ago you were limited to your city or district. Now, with remote work, there is only one global work market and it is more important to earn the trusts from employers and get loyalty.

Employees don’t work for free and moves for money, moreover they go away if not happy.

Employees are not petulant babes, they are the most value on your company. They are your company. They wake up every day and comes to work. You have to motivate them, to explain your vision. Make them part of the company. Make them love your project. They will thrust the project, they will be loyal will the company.

You don’t have a vision and your goal is just make money? Well, in this case the problem for your company is not the employee. Is the Management.

Hire dogs.!

Some employees like to be like dogs. They don’t mind how much repetitive is the task. They don’t ask themselves if there is a better way to do the thing. They simply limit to do the task. They never say no. They don’t have the skills to get hired by other companies and are too lazy to looks for another job. Dear Employers, if you think that kind of person can give more stability to your company you are right. You will be so stable that you won’t grow and competitors will beat you. So, your goal is to have no turnover or have a growing company?

Your mission is to have people that can leave at any moment but they remain because believe in your project.


What to take home.!

Dear employees, given that you need to stay eight hours each day at work it is your interest to give your best at that time. If you make a little bit more than what is requested by the contract, the company will grow and you will have a better career and salary. Of course, it is always a balance between expectation, personal life, and capabilities.

Dear Management, you live for your company, your house is at risk every day if the company would go out of business. All your employees knows how much is hard to have a company and that’s why they didn’t find the courage to open its own. You cannot expect the same effort you put into the job by all the other employees. By the way, if you build a comfortable environment, good pay, vision, and career they will do their best to let the company grow with themselves and will stay with you.

People are working for their needs that gets fulfilled by money.

Nobody works for money though it looks like but everyone work for progression and loyalty and ethical approach is the key to unlock it.
