The people who power Workato: Alexander Seggerman
Alexander Seggerman’s background in the automation space (he previously worked at UiPath) coupled with his current role at Workato (where he serves as the Director of Business Development for EMEA) gives him a unique perspective on our platform and its place in the automation market.
With this in mind, we decided to sit down with him to learn about his role, his experiences here, and what keeps him excited about Workato. You can read on to see what he shared.
Let’s start with an easy question: What do you do for fun??
Fun can take many forms throughout my day-to-day life. I love working around the house and gardening with my power tools, riding motorcycles or running with my wife to clear my thoughts, and—of course—spending time with my 2 kids.
Where were you working prior to Workato? And what inspired you to join our team?
Prior to Workato I was responsible for the partner team in DACH (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland) at UiPath. I was the company’s first alliance manager “on the ground” and, over the course of 3 years, I expanded the team to 6 people who were responsible for all partners in the region.?
Todd Gracon, our SVP of Sales, says that “we’re all company builders.” This ethos inspired me to join Workato and help drive success in EMEA. More specifically, I have the exciting opportunity of using my past experience to build up the EMEA Alliances team.?
Can you tell me a bit more about your role at Workato? What do you typically do day-to-day??
I’m responsible for the Alliances team in EMEA and in driving the partner business in DACH. For context, we want these partners to play a big role, both in selling Workato and in helping our sales teams close their opportunities.?
My typical day mostly consists of calls/zoom meetings with our partners, my team, various sales teams, as well as speaking in webinars with our partners and customers.?

What excites you about the Workato platform??
Despite being in the technology space for 20+ years, I’m still blown away by the simplicity and power of Workato’s platform.?
For example, unlike RPA solutions, Workato can easily support automations that use large volumes of data. In addition, with recipes, Workato has made the process of implementing powerful integrations and automations intuitive and digestible.?
What keeps you fired up about working at Workato (as a company)?
The chance of shaping and building the EMEA partner organization and team keeps me motivated. Additionally, the culture is very exciting. There’s a strong team spirit here and a level of openness that makes me comfortable in voicing my opinions and views on all sorts of topics.?
Here at Workato, we’re committed to building a best-in-class culture for Seggerman—along with the rest of our employees—by carrying out our 7 operating principles: prioritizing customers, winning together, acting now, thinking ahead, challenging each other, going offbeat, and having fun.?
You can learn more about each principle and explore our open positions by visiting our careers page.
