Long time ago, it was said that there are people who make backups and those who’ll do them.?
The situation has changed in XXI century. Why? I’ll provide the answer soon.
The mentioned saying was a kind of malicious anticipation.
If someone had never done a data copy, it would be clear he’d lose his data during the first disk failure, the ransomware or the cyber attack.
This situation would be a lesson to start to make backups regularly. This saying considered single PC or laptop users.
There are few very small family companies that take a risk of being overoptimistic.?
This approach is unconsidered by robust institutions such as banks, TSL companies or manufacturers.
They do regular backups counting on one thing.That they’ll be lucky and won’t need them. That there will be no fire, no war, no ransomware. Nowadays we see that the war can start anytime and anywhere. And war is not only bombs but also cyberattacks.
To fix data after the disaster can take few weeks. First you need to recover the data. Maybe they are on the tapes? You need to find these tapes and get the data.
?Then you need to fix the whole system. The company cannot operate on the expected level. Until the system is restored, it is not possible to register transactions, purchases or changes.

2 年Backup is a must be now but indeed just having backup stored somewhere doesn't make a company or organisation secured and prepare for a Distaster. And disasters can indeed be of different kinds, mostly unexpected. It's good to be well prepared when the bad day comes:)
