The People Who Inspire Us

Last week, while getting ready for work, I had an idea pop into my head.
I wanted to start a LinkedIn ghostwriting program for people who haven't been able to find their voice or who are simply overwhelmed by the idea of generating content. I felt like it was a fairly simple idea: Create a program that allows people to tell me what content they want to post, I'll write it, and everyone wins.
It was not that hard of a concept, but I needed a little push.
So I messaged my friend and asked, "What do you think of this idea?" She replied, "Love this!"
That was all I needed, and I was off to the races. I posted it, and within an hour, I had my first sale.
If you're in my circle, you'll be asked your opinion on all of my crazy ideas.
Why? I would like you to push me to achieve them all. The second we tell a friend an idea of ours, it's a social contract for them to encourage, motivate, and inspire us. Without them, we fall flat.
It made me think of this quote:
I'm not encouraging you to end up in jail, but your best and your worst ideas will be motivated and inspired by those closest to you whom you also trust in return.
This social contract that goes with putting your ideas out there into the universe is quite intense.
If you tell me you want to do something big, I'm going to hound you like no other. I will push you to the point where you may avoid my calls or texts, or finally tell me to stop it. I refuse to be that friend who doesn't encourage you to achieve the greatness that you deserve to succeed.
If I see the talents and traits in you that I think make you special, I'll push you beyond your comfort zone to achieve that greatness as well. I have no problem giving up on people who aren't talented, but if I think you're talented then the gloves come off and I'm going to push you deep into the abyss of achievement.
Why wouldn't you want to surround yourself with people like this? It makes no sense to me.
The more people you have in your life that do this for you the better. Unless, of course, you don't care about achieving something special and you just want to be another mediocre person in the corner doing boring stuff. That's ok if so, the world is already full of them and you can certainly add to the statistics.
I don't want to be just another person who achieves a fraction of their potential. Who the hell wants to do that? Who wants to live a life of regret with the talents they were born with?
Find the people who are going to push you beyond your comfort zone. Find the people who you want to text when you have a big idea because you know they won't allow you to spend another minute thinking about it; they will push you actually to make it happen.
If you enjoyed this article, I write daily on Patreon.com/scottbond, I host a podcast, I run a Discord community and I genuinely want to help inspire and influence your career. Sure, it's $5 a month, but you spent more than that on a large iced matcha today.
Oh, also, that ghostwriting program is here, and it's free to look at.
