On people who drive with their foot on the brake.

There goes another one. Streaming down the road, a rolling beacon of deficiency.

I feel sorry for the driver when I see a car accelerating with its brake lights on.?

There's a chance the car just has a wiring problem. If the lights are on constantly without dimming even for a second. But in post-1990 cars, that is a slim chance.?

More likely, nobody actually taught this poor soul how to drive. So now he just keeps his left foot gently on the brake. Just enough to trigger the brake lights. Just enough to apply continual pressure to the pads, wearing them out faster than if he knew how to properly drive.

Also obvious: he never learned to drive a manual transmission, whose clutch necessitates using the right foot for brake and gas.

What else might this person have missed out on learning? Did he learn about the benefits of sustained physical exercise? Did he ever learn to save money? Did he ever learn that honesty is the best policy?

The obverse thought is, did someone actually teach him to drive this way? If so, what other terrible advice did this monster impart?

“Reading is overrated.”

“Keep to yourself, friends are a huge burden.”

“Son, when you have a cough, smoke a nice big cigar.”

If only there was a hand sign, or special car horn, that could gently say, “Hey buddy. You should use your right foot for both gas and brake. Otherwise the drivers behind you think you are getting ready to slow down or stop at all times, defeating the purpose of the brake lights. Also it wears down your brake pads faster than if you drove with one foot. Have a nice day and I’m sorry you never learned this.”
