People at Temedica: Maria, UX Researcher
It’s no secret that a huge amount of attention to detail is needed to make sure our apps are the best they can possible be – and nobody understands this better than our UX researcher Maria! In today’s edition of People at Temedica, Maria walks us through her career journey, sharing the aspects of life at Temedica that get her out of bed in the morning and the parts of our company culture that she appreciates the most.
Could you tell us a little about your career journey and how you came across the opportunity to work at Temedica?
I actually started out in graphic and product design at the beginning of my studies, but was always very interested in psychology too and finally decided to head more into the direction of consumer research during my masters. By starting my career as a design researcher within an innovation agency, I found I could combine these two passions of mine by realizing research projects with my clients along the product development cycle.
Having worked with a variety of industries during this time, I’d always been particularly excited about healthcare. Although I wasn’t trained in a medical profession in the traditional sense, I wanted to look for an opportunity to contribute to the wellbeing of others. That’s where I came across Temedica and its goal to craft the future of personal health and immediately thought “wow, that’s what I want to do!”
How did you find the application and onboarding process, and what advice would you give to a potential candidate?
Although everyone’s always a bit nervous about any application process, (because you want it to go well, of course!) I found it to be a very pleasant experience. Every step of the process was transparently communicated, and in all the interview sessions I felt a very down-to-earth, appreciative, and positive atmosphere. The sessions were designed in a way that made it possible for us to get to know each other as well as possible.
I would advise potential candidates to share their excitement about what they do and be open about what their needs and expectations regarding the job are – then you’re guaranteed to have a great conversation!

Which aspect of your work at Temedica makes you excited?
Being able to talk to our users and patients directly. As a UX Researcher, I get to learn about their experiences, challenges and needs firsthand. Since we’re talking about chronic illnesses here, conversations are obviously quite sensitive - and sometimes not easy - but I feel so appreciative of the openness of patients and our users. With their help, we’re able to form an understanding of their situation and work on solutions that impact their lives positively.
Which parts of our company culture do you appreciate the most?
I love the culture of learning and trying new approaches – this is what makes us grow together. And speaking of together: Temedica is without exception comprised of team players - no unnecessary competition between each other, but a lot of goal-oriented collaboration and support.
