People at Temedica: Jakob, Graphic Designer

We’ve got a vibrant and creative team at Temedica, and nobody is better at bringing those colours to life than our graphic designer Jakob Kreitner! In this instalment of our People at Temedica series, we speak with Jakob to find out more about his day-to-day responsibilities as an integral part of our organization, how his career has evolved, and how he found this exciting opportunity in the first place.

Can you tell us about your career journey and how you came across the opportunity to be graphic designer at Temedica?

My background as a designer lies in the area of branding, but what I was searching for were interesting alternatives to the usual agency jobs. I wanted to be closer to the people and products I design for, so I thought checking out the corporate side in a more digital environment would be great idea. When I read the ad for the job at Temedica, I immediately had a good feeling that Temedica could offer me all of these different aspects that I was looking for.

What are the most important qualities in a graphic designer?

Being creative of course. But also knowing how to structure that creativity. And it never hurts being good at communicating with people, so you can be a problem solver and not just a graphics-producing tool. A big part of the job is always finding out, what people want to achieve with whatever they want you to design. Only then you can show them what might also be possible and how to fulfill their needs in the best way possible.

What are your responsibilities at Temedica, and what does your typical working day look like?

At Temedica a big part of what I do is creating the brand designs of our new apps, which is something I love very much and put a lot of effort into! And besides that I basically support any person, who needs help with graphics and design, be it animating social media posts, coming up with new illustrations for an app feature, polishing a PowerPoint or producing print products and merchandise for marketing purposes.

Every day is different and as I work for so many different people and products here at Temedica, it means there is no “usual” working day for me: some days I spend focusing on layouts and then there are days with a lot of meetings with my lovely colleagues, when we discuss campaigns or collaborate on a topic in workshops. Somebody always needs something, there are small jobs that take me some minutes and big tasks that take me months so it’s never the same and that’s what I love about it.

What do you value the most at Temedica?

I think there are many things I value here, especially the people. Not just our UX Design Team is great, but all my colleagues are simply the best! I also love that Temedica is very focused on the users, and is doing a lot of research to develop products that actually impact the lives of many people out there in a positive way. Besides that, I enjoy working in a modern, international and digital environment and having a lot of freedom to organize myself and make decisions in my field, because my expertise is valued.

What advice would you give your former self if you had the chance?

Just go for it!
