People at Statista
Hi Franzis, let’s start at the very beginning. Please introduce yourself in a few sentences.?
Of course. I'm Franzis, my background is in economics and communication, and I live in Berlin, so I commute a lot to Hamburg. I spend some time on the German railway which gives me enough time to read, which is very helpful when you start a new job. I am married, my background is half German, half Greek, I'm a passionate motorbike driver and very interested in football.?

You joined Statista very recently in May. What are your responsibilities??
Right, I started on the 2nd of May. My responsibilities include being the Vice President for the editorial content department, which comprises almost 240 people. So, within the first weeks, I’m trying to meet as many people as possible.??
?
Tell us more about your department. How would you describe your team and the tasks they handle??
The editorial content department is kind of the heart of the whole product. It’s where all the statistics and reports are made and updated across various industries, regions and topics. We manage, renew, source the right data, and then put it on the platform while tracking its performance.?
?
So, you’ve gotten to know your team a little. How would you describe them??
They are very open, smart, and nice people. I received a very warm welcome. It’s a very international team, with more than 60 nationalities, mostly based in Hamburg but also some in Berlin. And a very diverse team, culturally and with a very broad educational background from engineers to linguists, financial analysts to historians and many, many more. ?

You have a strong agency background. What can Statista learn from how agencies work, and what can agencies learn from how we work at Statista??
Agencies have a strong understanding of audiences, are quick in executing tasks with smaller teams, which allows them to move faster. They also strive for excellent execution. Statista can benefit from this customer's understanding and speed. On the other hand, agencies can learn from Statista’s depth, variety, accuracy and topicality of data.?
?
In terms of your career, what was the most important thing you learned so far??
You must have an interest or even better love for what you’re doing; this makes things easier and fosters curiosity. Also, especially in leadership positions, you need to have an interest in people and understand what motivates them – which is more often an emotional than a rational understanding. Loving what you do and liking people helps a lot.?
?
If someone were to ask you if they should join Statista, what would you say??
Definitely. Statista has a successful business model, a positive and respectful culture, and a relevant and strong brand propositioning “Empowering people with data”. Data is crucial in our complex times, and Statista’s mission to provide accurate information is very important. If you’re interested in data and what we do, this is the right place to be.?
Statista is a great company. If someone is thinking about joining, I can strongly recommend it. It's a great place to work at.?
