We asked Chrysologo about his role at radicant bank , how he first got interested in the topic of #sustainability, and what people should know about his job.

1. What's your role at radicant? What do you do?

I work as a DevOps Engineer, but I like to see my role as something bigger: a Community Builder. I say this because DevOps is more of a mindset than just a role. So, while I handle my technical tasks like automating the software lifecycle, my main focus is to support our teams in reaching their technical potential while also fostering a sense of humanity and innovation. I firmly believe that by improving communication and fostering alignment within our group, we can deliver more value.

2. How did you first come into contact with the topic of sustainability? How did you get interested in it? Anyone who inspired you?

I adopted a vegetarian diet almost 11 years ago, which made me aware of many environmental issues associated with the meat industry. Initially, my decision to become vegetarian was influenced by my growing connection with Hinduism and other beliefs that emphasise compassion towards all living beings. As I educated myself further, I came to understand the real-world impacts of my choices.?And now, here I am, finding my way to become as vegan as I can.

3. One thing you wish more people knew about your job?

IT is not only nerd-crazy-methodic-exact-mind stuff! We need creative minds that prioritise technology, and in my personal opinion, these ones are the best. Algorithms, AI, and blockchain are just tools meant to make our life as humans easier. Being good using these tools is a complement to great minds, not the opposite.

4. Why did you choose to work for radicant?

Purpose and people. I had two experiences at big corporates and it only made me feel like an engine in a purposeless machine. During my first encounter with radicant, with two crazy people by the way, Catarina and Diogo, I could feel that I have found my crew. Being purpose and people-oriented, they told me that we could make a difference and build a positive culture. Now, after almost 1 year, I am certain that we can impact the world because great people build great things. And that is what matters.?

5. Name one (or more) fun fact(s) about you.

1?? I earned the nickname “Quiz Boy” in school because I couldn't help but ask about everything, again and again.

2?? I wanted to be an archeologist at early stages of my life, probably because I used to love dinosaurs and Indiana Jones.

3?? I already considered quitting engineering to become a philosopher (academically speaking).

4?? I strongly believed that “the less I sleep, the more I live” because it did not seem fair to spend 1/3 of my life sleeping (I promise that now I prioritise my sleep quality).

5?? I enjoy going out and walking around the city, “watching people being people” (I call it "people watching"). It makes me feel like I'm in a movie.

6?? I enjoy conversations with random people telling me their stories and beliefs.

7?? I dream of producing music/cinema someday.
