People Quit
Best people QUIT because of:
Lack of appreciation and support
No opportunities to grow and learn
Lack of integrity by their superiors
Lack of trust and of respect
Micromanagement
Good people, especially managers, leave because of a number of reasons but the most critical one of them is a "double whammy" in that the same mistake that drives good managers out, also encourages the not-so-good ones to hide in the thick folds of process, governance and control doing only and exactly what is asked of them at the expense of agility, innovation, entrepreneurship and sometimes even the business. Furthermore, it gives rise to the other reasons listed in the same poster. Micromanagement is a curse many of us cannot let go off, which not only gives the message that we do not trust and respect to our people to do their jobs properly but also limit their opportunity to grow and learn. Even worse when at the same time, we preach empowerment, accountability and performance culture... The dichotomy does obviously not help with our credibility and integrity as Leaders in the eyes of our People. Though it may look like we are trying to help and support them, it is actually lack of appreciation for their ability. Your thoughts..?
