People Puzzles Midlands August Newsletter

I hope you're having a great summer and have found time to relax and do something beyond work—though I know it can be a bit of a balancing act during these months, as I’ve experienced myself. After a wonderful week in the Canaries and another spent with grandparents in the stunning County Wexford, Ireland (including surfing lessons in the Irish Sea), both of my daughters are heading off to secondary school next week. It's a big milestone and marks the beginning of a new chapter for our family.

Refresh and Reset

September often marks the beginning of a new chapter in business too, offering a prime opportunity to reset and reassess priorities.

Just today, I visited a thriving company in the East Midlands focused on upskilling their leadership team, boosting employee engagement, and positioning themselves as an 'Employer of Choice' to attract and retain top talent. Earlier this week, I met with a business leader preparing for an exit, seeking our assistance in readying the leadership team for upcoming changes. This transition will allow the current CEO to gradually step back while empowering future leaders to step up, all while preserving the company’s cherished culture.

Across the Midlands region, businesses are undergoing resets of various scales, and we are always thrilled to support leaders and their teams in navigating these transformations to achieve commercial success.

Rebooting for growth

Fast growing business Total Enterprise Solutions (TES) in Staffordshire had its sights set on global expansion but realised that this required pressure to be taken off the CEO and a strategic approach to people planning.

We implemented a clear people strategy and engaged workforce to help them achieve their ambitious plans and become an Employer of Choice.

“We are moving faster, we are getting more things done, but it is requiring less time from me.” Paul Faulkner, CEO, TES
