I recently sat down with Brandi (Guthrie) Errico, our Director of Client Success, to discuss her inspiring career journey. From starting off in a completely different industry to taking on various roles across different teams here at Progyny, Inc., Brandi's path has been nothing short of remarkable.?

What ultimately brought her to where she is today? A passion for partnering with our employer clients to support their employees on their family building and health journeys.?

Brandi has been a part of Progyny for over nine years now – wow! And through it all, one thing has remained constant: her consistent passion for #WomensHealth and her inspiration from other people’s actions.??

Can you share a bit about your career journey and the key milestones that have shaped it??

I was always attracted to sales roles and started my working career full-time in retail through college. I then spent a few years in recruiting and medical device/lab sales before joining Progyny. Prior to joining Progyny, I worked for a small women’s health lab selling to Gynecologists and OB-GYNs. That’s where I learned a few things about myself: I didn’t love “sales”, I loved cultivating strong relationships and finding solutions to my client’s problems. I also became fascinated by women’s health and knew that was the space I wanted to stay in. A random Indeed.com job posting led to my nine-year tenure at Progyny.?

What challenges have you encountered as a woman in your field, and how have you overcome them??

Some of my biggest challenges have been related to being a working mom with two under two. The scarcity of time, the mental load from compartmentalizing work and personal life, daycare germs(!), and continuously trying to grow in every aspect of my personal and professional life. While I love working and being a mom, it’s a challenge. My husband and family help me "do it all", but I also owe a lot to Progyny for creating a work environment that supports working moms and dads. The ability to spend four months focused solely on being a mom, being met with grace when we have a sick kid home and the camaraderie across all teams – we truly are a company that prioritizes building families.??

In what ways have you actively supported other women in their career development??

I have been so fortunate to know and work alongside such powerful, kind, successful women. I always try to take what I’ve learned or received and share that with others – in and outside the office. I think so much growth comes from collaborating with each other and taking a genuine interest in each other’s success.?

Reflecting on your own experiences, what advice would you give to young women aspiring to pursue a similar career path??

We all have our own style, so lean into that. Authenticity is a non-negotiable for building long lasting relationships. And be open to opportunities that don’t necessarily align with what you think you want to do. Sometimes we can’t see all our own strengths and how they can be applied to other types of roles.??

How important is mentorship to your professional growth, and have you had any significant mentors on your journey??

I believe mentorship is essential to personal and professional growth, and it can come in many forms. Ann Gaines was my most impactful mentor from my earliest days at Progyny. I’m not sure she realizes the impact she had on me, as she led by example rather than instruction. Ann showed me that it’s possible to achieve extraordinary success without compromising who you are at your core. Her authenticity and unwavering commitment to her values taught me lessons that will stay with me forever.?

Can you share a memorable moment when you felt empowered or inspired by another woman's achievements or support???

I am deeply inspired by the incredible women I get to call friends that I also have the privilege of working alongside — women that have advanced their careers rapidly through hard, hard work and women that have faced extreme hardships and emerged even stronger. Their dedication, resilience, and determination are not just admirable but a powerful reminder of what is possible when we face adversity head-on. Being surrounded by such strong women motivates me daily.?

Looking ahead, what are your hopes and aspirations for the future of women in your field, and how do you plan to contribute to this progress??

My hope is that there continues to be a strong focus on women’s health research and that employers continue doing the necessary work to support their employees through all stages of life. Starting the conversations, asking questions and identifying ways to fill the gaps in care. Progyny is constantly expanding our offerings to provide support and improve access to clinical care for all life stages. My energy is focused on educating employers, friends, and strangers about the importance of these life-changing benefits.??
