People Power – shining a light on our extraordinary NED

Bronwyn is renowned for her creative and collaborative approach in FinTech – we explore her impact in the industry, and her vision for CyberAlarm??

Bronwyn’s influence in FinTech has translated into consistent industry recognition; she’s made Standout 45 Women in FinTech 2023, SC Awards Women of Influence 2022, and Top 21 Most Inspiring Women in Cyber. These honours represent 20 years of passionate cybersecurity advocacy and compliance, data protection, strategy, ops and development. We’re honoured to have Bronwyn in our boardroom, as she provides independent oversight and industry expertise.?

But it’s not just her technical and industry experience that sets Bronwyn apart: she’s driven to reduce the human impact of cybercrime: “I was motivated to pursue cyber security as it gave me the opportunity to figure out how to harness the power of new technology – while keeping our world safe.?

“I was working as a software engineer during the first wave of e-commerce back in the dot.com days and wanted to work out how to write secure software. I took a year out to do an MSc in Security & Forensics and never looked back!”?

Bronwyn’s role right now is miles apart from her first paid job – as a student waiting tables at a pub in Dublin – but the theme remains: people. “I loved the craic, and working with customers, and today, it’s that part of my job I still enjoy – I get a huge buzz out of working together with others to solve problems.”?

Combining technical expertise with natural people skills runs in the family – Bronwyn’s inspiration is her dad: “My lovely Dad was an absolute legend. As well as being an engineer, he was a ventriloquist on Irish TV. He had a great way about him and I often wonder what he'd do in certain situations.”?

The fast pace of technological change and cyber security threats means unique challenges for SMEs, but also space for new solutions: “Technology is changing at such a frenetic pace, it's difficult to keep pace with evolving threats and to cut through complexity. It's so great to see this as core to CyberAlarm's mission.”?
