People of Pluralsight: Meet Heraldo Domingues

Welcome to the next edition of the People of Pluralsight series. This series spotlights our team members–the people who make the difference–and showcases their diverse talents, experiences, and stories.?

In this edition, we’re excited to introduce you to Heraldo Domingues , Principal Solution Engineer, Flow.?

Heraldo Domingues is a lifelong learner who stays motivated through positivity, gratitude, and connection with others. From relocating to the US from Brazil to immerse himself in the English language to shifting his career from IT operations to customer success and excelling in his current position as a Principle Solutions Engineer, Heraldo’s resilience and approach to growth is inspiring.

In his time at Pluralsight, Heraldo has logged over 250 learning hours on the Pluralsight platform. He has specifically used the courses to help him better understand the software development lifecycle, which has made him more successful in his role consulting with customers on the benefits and use cases for Pluralsight Flow. The courses that have made the most impact on his work are those focused on Agile and Scrum. After taking these courses, he saw immediate positive improvements in his meetings with customers.

“When I open Pluralsight, I’m like a kid in a candy store. I don’t know what to learn first.”

Heraldo has developed a fine-tuned learning process from the time he’s spent on the platform. Want some study tips from an expert? Here’s his process:

  • Watch the course videos at 1.3x – 1.4x speed and don’t take any notes. Just see how much of the information you can absorb.
  • Take a Skill IQ to see what you understand and where you have gaps in knowledge
  • Create quizlets and memory cards based on the results of your Skill IQ. (Bonus tip: use AI tools like ChatGPT to create quizzes or to explain concepts you’re having a hard time understanding.)
  • Watch the course videos again at normal speed and take notes this time
  • Do some self assessments to track progress with your understanding of the concepts and continue to take quizzes or go through memory cards as needed until you have a comprehensive understanding of the topic
  • Share what you learned with someone else. (Teaching concepts to others is the best way to ensure you retain what you’ve learned.)

Heraldo’s passion for learning extends beyond taking courses to how he engages with other team members at Pluralsight. He makes the most of Pluralsight’s collaborative culture to approach every conversation with curiosity and a genuine interest in other peoples’ knowledge and expertise.?

In addition to reaching out to team members in other areas of the business to understand how he can make their jobs easier, he also hosts 15-minute Zoom coffee chats where he invites co-workers to join him to talk about anything other than work.

In his personal life, Heraldo is equally dedicated to spending time with his family, practicing gratitude, and prioritizing his personal wellness. A day in the life of Heraldo looks like lifting weights and doing cardio in the morning, then working from home, and finally studying everything from tech skills to politics and playing board games with his wife and two daughters in the evening. In the summers, he also enjoys exploring the outdoors by riding his bike or hiking to waterfalls.?

It’s probably not surprising that we’re giving Heraldo the title Lifelong Learner given his dedication and passion for learning new things. So, what’s Heraldo learning next? He’s currently preparing for the Zero Trust certification and is on step four of his learning process (re-watching the course videos at normal speed). We can’t wait to give him a high five when he completes the certification.?

Here are some other fun facts about Heraldo:

Favorite thing about working at Pluralsight:

  • The culture. There’s a freedom and openness to collaboration. He feels comfortable reaching out to other teams to build knowledge and gain advice.?

What he’s most proud of accomplishing at Pluralsight:

  • After noticing some discrepancies and gaps in the security knowledge base of Pluralsight, he was able to sponsor a security audit. The project took four months, and he worked with team members in several areas to complete it. Through the audit, they were able to update and add to what already existed to create a solid security knowledge base.

His favorite culture pillar:

  • Aligned & Focused. This is what motivates and drives his learning and work.?

The person who has made the difference for him at Pluralsight:

  • Zakia Richardson . She’s an amazing person. She works on all the lengthy legal documents during contract negotiations with customers and has so much knowledge to share.?
