People need purpose more than money.

Happy weekend LinkedIn friends!
Today I woke up and wanted to share with you a quick reminder..
People need purpose more than money...
We need something to grapple with...
We need a meaning to justify our lives...
The mere offering of material sustenance to people isn't going to solve our problems...
As a student of Organizational Psychology I claim there is sufficient evidence to support that money and pay are?extrinsic motivators.
There is a natural tension between extrinsic and intrinsic motives. Financial reward, high or low, can sometimes suppress intrinsic goals, such as enjoyment, curiosity, learning, personal challenge.
Money is definitely not a long term motivator.
And Dostoevsky knew this 150 years ago..He said:
'' If you gave people everything they wanted so all they had to do was eat cakes and busy themselves with the continuation of species the first thing they do is smash it all to hell so that something interesting could happen.''
Very sweet and short today,
Chrys
