I started coaching my 10-year-old son’s baseball team a couple years ago, and I have this kid who wants so badly to pitch. He practices constantly at home, but for a long time he didn’t get any better.
As I watched him throw one day, I noticed that his mechanics were different on every single pitch. He could pitch for hours a day, but what he really needed was to learn — and to be able to repeat — was the basics of where his foot should land, how his arm should come back and when he should release the ball.?
More wasn’t better.
That’s the lesson in Dan Shaw’s story this week about advisors trying to up their marketing efforts through video. People love videos on their social feeds, news sites and even emails. And more video is great — if you do it well.?
Otherwise, you’re spamming potential clients (and current ones) with subpar content. That actually does the opposite of what you’re going for.
