People of LOGEX - vol. 8
Barbora Bohunska (Florianova)
HR & Recruitment Partner | #suHR Mentor | CV | Career | Consultant | Employer Branding
We continue with a series of interviews with our colleagues in Brno also in new year 2021 and the interview with Barbora is then followed by an interview with our Scrum Master Jirka Zajíc. Do you have an idea what Scrum Master responsibility is? And what Jirka does in his free time? Continue reading and enjoy it :)
As the introduction can you tell us how long have you worked at LOGEX and what is your role?
I work as a Scrum master (yes, big S ;-) for Appropriate care monitor and now also as a Product owner for User self-administration. It’s quite a fun to have two roles and be able to switch between them based on current mood. It’s been almost a year since I started in Logex, so there shall be big party soon…
What have you done before LOGEX?
For several (six or so) years, I worked in ABB as project manager and project controller (that’s finance stuff, not checking project managers :-). Last two years there I was responsible for new product implementation on boundary between R&D and production (lot of tooling, machines, epoxy casting & high voltage testing).
And why did you choose to start at LOGEX?
First thing was the motivation to switch from waterfall project management to agile, which fits me better, so I did all the trainings and certifications for the scrum master. Then, after searching of new company to settle in, Logex emerged from clear sky…
Ok, that sounds bit too epic – the story was way more ordinary. Friend of me told me about the company at one great party. And I totally forgot it.
I found that Logex was offering a job accidently on some web and applied for. I think the hiring and onboarding process was what caught me in. Fine, straight & open people all around. That was the place where I wanted to spend my time, so I stayed.
Before you were in a kind of corporate, could you compare with the current smaller company?
Not just “kind of” corporate – it was the proper corporation with all the bells & whistles. But even in the huge conglomerate, you can create your own group of friends and colleagues to have nice work environment and lot of fun, so the company does not feel so big anymore.
For me the key difference between corporation and Logex is that the whole company is one big team and you do not have to bother by creating your own sub-group or fitting to some.
What did you want to become as a child?
Hmmm, no clue. I guess it was something bad-ass like astronaut, pop-star or garbage man, but my memory does not serve there…
You work as a Scrum Master, can you describe your role and which project you are working on now?
Huh, that would be a long paragraph (or more book-chapter), so I’ll try to (over)simplify it: I take care, that my team has everything needed to do their job well and enjoy it.
According to the current situation with covid-19 our office has limited mode so how do you spend your home office, do you take any advantages from that and on the other hand what do you miss by mainly working remotely?
I Want Back To the Office.
No, really – I prefer to work from office, because it keeps clear distinction between work and home. As it’s fine to have home-office time to time, I much rather spend half hour in the tram to office and have there face-to-face conversation than Teams call…
What do you like about LOGEX and its working environment or company culture?
It′s frank, open and friendly. And there is very well kept focus to keep the company culture strong despite the team growing.
We know that you have family so how do you manage your work-life balance in LOGEX?
Quite well, as I’m early bird, so I’m already in work before they wake up. That gives me good chance to be early back home and spend some quality time with my family.
Sometimes I get stuck in the work and get late home from the pub, but the covid times fixed this almost perfectly :-D
What do you do in your free time?
I have 2 years old son and building house now, so currently no free time allowed. But before I spend some time on bicycle swimming and time-by-time some video and board-games.
Also I’m part of non-profit organization Instrukto?i Brno, which is focused on experimental learning, so there I organize every year some interesting courses (I know that’s product placement, but check it out:).
New year has been already here so do you make a New Year′s resolution?
No, my last New year resolution was “I will never drink again”, but that did not work.
If you should say only one thing which is the best thing at LOGEX why would you recommend LOGEX to others?
I have two and cannot decide between them: The people are great (like really, really fine people). What we are doing makes sense to me.
Thank you for the interview :)
