People of Impact - Rajan Ananthanarayanan

Rajan Ananthanarayanan is a plastics technologist and industrial engineer.?He did his Masters in Management from the Asian Institute of Management, Manila and has more than 30 years of experience in the industry!!

His vast career span includes experience in Product Development, Project Management, and Business Process Re-Engineering.

He started his career as a Design engineer and worked in several areas in Manufacturing, Project Management, Product Development, and Enterprise Digitisation.

He has also taken some key positions as a Consultant at Tata Projects and Reliance Communications, and VP at Reliance Industries.

He has a keen interest in Quality, Innovation and Business Process Re-engineering.

The same is reflected in his vision for Quality processes:

Inculcating Quality principles is always a challenge. Make in India is a huge drive. We need to make quality products in India to compete in the global market. Small and Medium scale industries are aware of this. However, to implement quality systems they need to be at par with the latest developments.

To help improve the Quality Management System (QMS), Rajan has established TIC Services which is a SaaS (Software as a Service) product. This QMS platform can be used by TPI / NDT / Mfg / EPC companies.?

Why TIC is important?

TIC stands for Testing, Inspection and Certification.

The TIC industry has many SMEs?and individuals without whom we cannot be safe in our daily life.?Unfortunately TIC industries are not provided with tools which can help them to document their quality records.?TIC Services is an initiative to bridge this gap by which the industry can document their work.?

In context, NDT / TPI services providers deploy engineers as per the request received from their customers.?Mostly the customer requirements (inspection calls) are managed via registers or MS Excel.?Inspection reports are stored as hard copy files or in emails and individual desktops.?

The challenges in Quality process which Rajan is trying to address:

(1) Ability to track service delivery - calls received, attended, and reports made (status)

(2) Uniformity of Inspection Reports

(3) If and when those reports have to be collated and sent to end customers for a specific project, it requires manual work to trace them.?

(4) The same issue persists if any query is reported by a customer - this is a question of traceability as per NABL or IS 17025 standards

What is the solution for above?

SaaS product for QMS

Rajan has built a software solution so that every activity can be tracked and QC/Inspection reports can be saved in the system for future reference.?

For example an NDT (Non-Destructive Testing Service provider) or a TPI (Third Party Inspection) can use TIC Services to manage their quality. A manufacturer or a fabricator of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, boilers, etc too can benefit by managing Project Quality with TIC Services.

This is a cloud-based solution, i.e., in a Pay-per-use model so that even an MSME can afford the system and leverage technology.

Marketplace for Professional Development

To cater to the need for professional development, Rajan has provided a Market Place for TIC (Testing, Inspection, and Certification) professionals. Any professional in the field of Quality can register as an enterprise and host training programs. Registered freelancers can participate in training and job postings.

It's great to see such an initiative by Rajan. We are sure that his efforts to improve the Quality Managment System will add immense value to the existing work system.

All the best Rajan!

Thank you Praveen Tiwari for bringing it up in the front. Appreciate it. Indeed #smes engaged in #epc #ndtinspection #nondestructivetesting #thirdpartyinspection can take the advantage by #digitisation of their processes. TIC Services is striving hard to make #digitisation economical for #smes Once again ?? your efforts.
