I wanted to share something different this time and recently i found myself going over one very old favorite poem of mine by Uruguayan journalist, novelist, and poet Mario Benedetti.

I always felt this words very close to me in both personal and professional life . Keep me honest here but believe the essence is not lost in translation.!

The People I Like / La Gente que Me Gusta

Me gusta la gente que vibra, que no hay que empujarla, que no hay que decirle que haga las cosas, sino que sabe lo que hay que hacer y que lo hace.

I like the people that vibrate, those that do not need to be pushed forward or told what to do, but those that know what needs to be done and do it.

La gente que cultiva sus sue?os hasta que esos sue?os se apoderan de su propia realidad.

The people which cultivate their dreams until those dreams overpower their own reality.

Me gusta la gente con capacidad para asumir las consecuencias de sus acciones, la gente que arriesga lo cierto por lo incierto para ir detrás de un sue?o, quien se permite huir de los consejos sensatos dejando las soluciones en manos de nuestro padre Dios.

I like the people who have the capacity to assume the consequences of their actions, the people who risk the certain for what is uncertain in order to go after their dream, who allow themselves to flee from sensible advice, leaving the solution in the hands of our father God.

Me gusta la gente que es justa con su gente y consigo misma, la gente que agradece el nuevo día, las cosas buenas que existen en su vida, que vive cada hora con buen ánimo dando lo mejor de sí, agradecido de estar vivo, de poder regalar sonrisas, de ofrecer sus manos y ayudar generosamente sin esperar nada a cambio.

I like the people who are fair with their people and with themselves, the people who are thankful for a new day and the good things which exist in their lives, who lives every hour with a good disposition, giving the best of themselves, being thankful to be alive, to be able to give smiles to others as gifts, to offer their hands and help generously without expecting something in return.

Me gusta la gente capaz de criticarme constructivamente y de frente, pero sin lastimarme ni herirme.

I like the people who are capable to give me constructive criticism to my face, but without hurting or wounding me.

La gente que tiene tacto.

The people who have tact.

Me gusta la gente que posee sentido de la justicia.

I like the people who possess a sense of justice.

A estos los llamo mis amigos.

These I call my friends.

Me gusta la gente que sabe la importancia de la alegría y la predica. La gente que mediante bromas nos ense?a a concebir la vida con humor.

I like the people who know the importance of joy and speak about it. The people who through jokes teach us to envision life with humor.

La gente que nunca deja de ser ani?ada.

The people who never stop being childlike.

Me gusta la gente que con su energía, contagia.

I like the people that transmit their energy to others.

Me gusta la gente sincera y franca, capaz de oponerse con argumentos razonables a las decisiones de cualquiera.

I like people who are sincere and frank, capable of opposing anyone′s decisions with reasonable arguments.

Me gusta la gente fiel y persistente, que no desfallece cuando de alcanzar objetivos e ideas se trata.

I like the people who are faithful and persistent, that do not agonize when it has to do with reaching objectives or ideas.

Me gusta la gente de criterio, la que no se avergüenza en reconocer que se equivocó o que no sabe algo. La gente que, al aceptar sus errores, se esfuerza genuinamente por no volver a cometerlos.

I like people with criteria, those that are not ashamed to recognize that they were mistaken or doesn′t know something. The people who, when accepting their errors, genuinely strive not to commit them again.

La gente que lucha contra adversidades.

The people who fight against the adversities.

Me gusta la gente que busca soluciones.

I like the people who seek for solutions.

Me gusta la gente que piensa y medita internamente. La gente que valora a sus semejantes no por un estereotipo social ni cómo lucen. La gente que no juzga ni deja que otros juzguen.

I like the people who internally think and meditate. The people who value their fellow mankind, not for a social stereotype or how they look. The people that do not judge or let others judge.

Me gusta la gente que tiene personalidad.

I like people who have personality.

Me gusta la gente capaz de entender que el mayor error del ser humano, es intentar sacarse de la cabeza aquello que no sale del corazón.

I like the people who understand that the greatest error of being a human being, is the attempt to remove from their mind what doesn′t come from the heart.

La sensibilidad, el coraje, la solidaridad, la bondad, el respeto, la tranquilidad, los valores, la alegría, la humildad, la fe, la felicidad, el tacto, la confianza, la esperanza, el agradecimiento, la sabiduría, los sue?os, el arrepentimiento y el amor para los demás y propio son cosas fundamentales para llamarse GENTE.

The sensibility, courage, solidarity, benignity, respect, tranquility, values, happiness, humility, faith, felicity, tact, trust, hope, thankfulness, wisdom, dreams, regrets, and love for others and one′s self are fundamental things in order to be called PEOPLE.

Con gente como ésa, me comprometo para lo que sea por el resto de mi vida, ya que por tenerlos junto a mí, me doy por bien retribuido.

With people like this, I commit myself for the rest of my life for anything, since by having them close to me, I consider myself well compensated.
