Those voters in middle America, the so-called "Rust-Belt" states screamed "listen to us...we need help...come out of your bubble in Washington and pay attention!".
One listened...one did not.
At this year's OAB (Ontario Association of Broadcasters) Conference, more research will be presented to industry folk about how average people feel about media- radio in particular.
Guess what- many of their screams today are the same as they were 20 years ago: You play too many commercials! You play the same songs over and over (too much repetition)! The people on the radio are (mostly) boring! You need more interesting, authentic, unique personalities!
The people have spoken...again.
Will the industry listen this time and actually do something about excruciatingly long stop-sets and playing the same song every 60-90 minutes in some formats? Or, will we turn our backs on the people...thinking we know it all...and be "shocked" one day when the unlikely candidate (competition) wins?
