2024 US November General Election Results
Wash., DC - Apparently, we are "going back" and "joy did not cometh in the morning."
Maybe I missed it.
So, where are we?
ABOUT LAST NIGHT
Last night, the Republican Party pulled off an impressive electoral victory. Capturing the White House, securing a majority in the US Senate and probably the same in the House.
America was painted red.
In a very short time, the VP also put on an equally Herculean efforts.
"MORNING IN AMERICA"
Today is Wednesday - the day after.
Joseph Biden is still President of the United States.
The US Stock Market is breaking financial records!
WINNER
Apparently, there is a president and vp elect.
Ironically, it was the popular and electoral votes from our fellow Americans in the "cradle of American Civilization" - The Keystone State - PA - and the "City of Brotherly Love" - Philadelphia - that put this right wing ticket over the top and victorious.
CONCESSION
The current current vice president is contacting the former president to concede.
TRANSITION
Apparently, there seems to be a peaceful transition of power in the making - what used to be the hallmark of American Democracy.
The transition from the democrats to the republicans is in full swing. All of the enablers are making final pitches for a position in this administration.
HOW I VOTED
I voter for neither ticket.
I'm not a hypocrite.
Not voting - too - is a democratic form of voting, sending a message.
Voting for the sake of voting is not for me, neither is "voting for the less of two evils."
I - we - must demand quality candidates with details - not last minute promises - after being in office - for years - and platitudes.
As the total popular vote seems to indicate, I'm not the only one who may have stayed away from the polls. Just compare the total number of popular votes cast in the last election and last nights.
Neither ticket stood up for - our collective - my - interests.
1. A CONVICTED FELON
A felon is the president-elect of the United States of America - 34 felonies and counting.
A personal debt can keep one from public service, but 34 crimes and counting - is ok.
Qualifications and experience be damn.
Smart phones, but a government of dumbed down federal public servants - "Loyalist."
Madam VP, where is my "economic plan?"
You didn't speak for me.
2. FAMILY REPRODUCTIVE & WOMEN'S RIGHTS
The fundamental "Roe v Wade" constitutional case that established a "privacy" right - allowing couples - women - to control their - her body - is gone.
This constitutional right was lost on the democratic watch.
Democrats did nothing.
Women are now "second class citizens."
Ladies, how is this acceptable?
Why so quiet?
It's 2024.

3. THE ECONOMY
It is always the "economy stupid."
For the last 4 years we heard about the "dignity" of work - of a paycheck. Empty chairs at the "kitchen table."
I lost my career under one - and neither one - did anything for me or anything about it.
I didn't commit a violation - I did my duty - I spoke truth to power.
The truth mattered to neither camp.
I was no one.
Big mistake.
EXISTENTIAL ISSUES OF OUR TIME - IGNORED
Both candidates and campaigns literally and figuratively "talked garbage."
In the meantime, the "existential issues of our times" took a back seat.
1. Nuclear Proliferation / War
Current external issues - wars - foreign affairs - in the Ukraine and the Middle East - have the East and West on the brink of nuclear war.
These are weapons of mass destruction. Millions will die. The living will wish that they were dead.
Both Administrations - both - ignored the fact that the US Still Has No In-coming Missile Alert Protocol.
What happened to national security?
We are neither ready no prepared for a three-front war - with China and Russia.
2. Climate Change
This current hurricane season is just the tip of the proverbial "iceberg." Not only are these melting - icebergs - but the planet is experiencing weather extremes - heavy rains, more potent hurricanes and widespread drought, hunger and misery.
Worried about the economy? Food prices? Wait until we experience more food shortages.
3. Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Lastly, AI may be humanity's salvation - in some respects - or our doom as a species.
Why so little public discussion?
THE BOTTOMLINE
So, I respect the decision of the voters but I don't have to accept the current electoral results.
That's democracy.
However, I am concerned that on "day one" of the promised dictatorship, I my not have that right to enjoy - soon.
The projected victors do not represent my values - what are their values?
Virtues?
CERTIFICATION
Finally, there is the upcoming certification of the results.
We will either see a "January 6" 2.0 - in reverse - or a convicted president-elected assume the presidency with practically a "blank check."
We know how he is with taxpayer money.
What if the president is convicted?
Will his VP assume the presidency in a ceremony presided over by the current and losing VP? She is the current president of the US Senate.
Hey, West Wing could not come up with this episode.
We shall see how one party rule will deal with "absolute power" - a super majority - and how long it will last. It won't be long before they will be "cannibalizing" each other over power.
On a positive note, hey, so far - no "Bush v Gore 2.0."
It seems that we had fair and free elections.
Look at that!
