This week I want you to consider when HR IS YOUR FRIEND.?
We think of Inclusion as systematic business strategy to ensure that everyone shares the same advantages and benefits.
- Everyone can perform
- Everyone can belong
- Everyone can reach their potential
Here's 3 points I discussed:
——————
1 I Studied 200+HR Leaders
The most?“successful" ones have a few things in common.
Here are 9 of them:
? They believe in people
? They constantly seek insights
? They are self motivated learners
? They genuinely care about people
? They have a clear personal purpose
? They read a lot of psychology books
? They consider their job a call to action
? They spend most of their time speaking to people
? They seek to influence the values of the organisation

I really like the last one.?
Successful HR leaders were the ones who by their own standards were able to protect employees.
When HR Leaders have the power to influence the values of the organisation, that’s when employees can trust Human Resources.

2 I Spoke With Leaders Personally Invested In the Business
For these HR Leaders it wasn’t just a job.
They considered it a call to action.?
These were animated when they spoke about:
- Their values
- Their personal motivations?
- Their frustrations
When I interviewed them some expressed mixed emotions including anger, shame and a fear of being consumed.
When HR Leaders are on a mission because they are called to do the work, that’s when employees can trust Human Resources.

3 HR Leaders Wanted To Humanise Everything?
A lot of the leaders I spoke to were investing in software.
Their motivation was to automate processes so they could spend time with other human beings.?
They wanted to spend more time creating room for people to thrive.
Here’s what one leader said:
“We need to be human about this. We need to humanise it.”
They were all obsessed with creating a “great place to work”
They kept using that phrase over and over again.
When HR Leaders are focused on being more human, that’s when employees can trust Human Resources.
After hundreds of interviews I’ve learned:?
- HR reflects the character of an organisation.
- HR delivers the will of the Leaders.
- HR can be trusted when they have your best interests at heart AND are able to influence leaders.?
If you’ve got this in your organisation, consider yourself lucky.?
You’re probably making progress on your Inclusion Journey
