People first legal tech for fairer law with Natasha de Koker & Maya Markovich

“I used to pay a lawyer but now I use an app.”

I think we are going to hear these words a lot more in the next five years.

This week on Legal Design IRL I had an amazing chat with Natasha de Koker & Maya Markovich about user-centered design and legal tech - and how it can make the legal system more accessible for everyone. How? By designing tech solutions with and for the end users.

We looked at JUSTICE4.0 a beta legal tech solution designed using user-centered design principles. It allows people to conduct an entire small claims dispute via an app or online - without the need to go to court if they don’t want to. The user interviews informed the design and the key elements of the program (and highlighted issues the development team hadn’t even thought of).

I’m sharing this with you because so much of what we do as lawyers is tedious, repetitive, and boring. And for our customers, the system is intimidating and complicated. ?? User-centred legal tech offers both lawyers the opportunity to expand their horizons in law and change the way they do law. And at the same time, offer consumers better access to the hallowed halls of justice.

It’s a win-win.

The future is bright, friends. ?? Watch the replay to see the demo or head over to the blog to read the transcript.

PS: Keep an eye on JUSTICE4.0. It’s groundbreaking.

Tell me what legal tech innovation you’d like to see in?your?work?
