People Experience | Architect
I often refer to myself as a People Experience Designer (PXD), or as a "People Architect" leader. My passion lies in crafting and enhancing experiences that have a positive impact on people. I thrive on utilizing human-centered design principles, conducting empathy interviews, and conducting research to extract valuable insights that can unlock opportunities for elevating these experiences. I had a great coffee chat this morning with Jenny Busing , and we briefly discussed our shared love for all things "EX." (Thanks Jenny!) ?? ??
Recently, I had the privilege of collaborating with an employee resource group (ERG) comprised of around twenty diverse women. This unique design project was aligned with the feedback received on employee engagement and the organization's commitment to action planning.
A pivotal moment during the design kickoff was a transformative shift in mindset. Initially, there were notions like, "We've provided feedback, and it's the company's responsibility to come up with solutions to our feedback," and "our job is not to provide more feedback." However, a collective realization occurred, emphasizing the power of solutions originating from the very people we design for. The richness of the sessions included the connections formed, the engagement fostered, and the dynamic process of co-creation through shared ideas, combining both divergent and convergent thinking - it was truly impactful.

Reflecting on this experience, several essential factors contributed to its success: human-centered design, empathy, research and analysis, technology, facilitation, effective communication, a growth-oriented learning mindset, curiosity, change management, leadership and advocacy, creativity, and innovation.
The opportunity to directly engage with and learn from the individuals we design for is a profound source of inspiration.? As a collective design team, we identified key themes, delved into the root causes of issues, crafted several "how might we" (HMW) questions, brainstormed individually and in small groups, engaged in group-wide ideation, and prioritized key focus areas. It is an incredible gift to be able to reshape experiences through human-centered design.
