People Don't Buy the Best Product...

I was flipping through StoryBrand by Donald Miller, when I saw this quote: "People don't buy the best products. They buy the products they can understand the fastest." Brilliant insight. It reminds me of Peter Morville's comment, "The prettiest pictures win the funding."
What's in common here? In business, many times we are making decisions on expediency, not necessarily the best product. Whether it's pictures or immediate understanding, the premise is "Show me how to solve my problem RIGHT NOW!" If more companies understood that, they'd reconsider how they build their solutions to make it absolutely dead simple to use their product.
Ten years ago, Peter's comment immediately changed my style of presentation. Will Don's quote change the way I perceive usability in products? Absolutely. It already has.
