People Behind the Power - LCEC
By Shannon Williamson 6/29/22
IT Technician V, Elizabeth (Liz) Davis recently celebrated a milestone of 25 years at LCEC! When asked about her career she was quick to answer.
“I love the interaction between IT and communicating with employees. It’s a great combination of technology and customer service,†says Liz.
Liz's Journey
Liz was attending Edison Community College (now known as FSW) when she saw a bulletin board with a job posting for Florida Power and Light (FPL). She was a young single mother at the time and needed a job. She applied and was surprised to get the job as the first ever female meter reader in their Fort Myers office.
It was not easy for Liz, as she would often get called names and have to walk for hours in the heat to make sure every meter was read on her daily routes. Although it was tough, the job taught Liz many things about metering, electricity, and navigating Lee County. Liz powered through because she knew it would lead to more opportunities.
She eventually became a customer service representative at FPL where she learned accounting and billing. She then left and worked for Sony Electronics as a correspondence specialist. With all of her experience and knowledge about the electrical world, Liz decided it was time for a change and began her career at LCEC in 1997 in 'Consumer Services'.

LCEC, a forever home!
Liz became part of a core team to convert the LCEC billing system. This led her to assist employees as a Help Desk representative, which was converted to her current role as an IT technician.
One important reason Liz has stayed at LCEC for 25 years is her co-workers, as some have become more like family. “Technology has certainly evolved, and it has been amazing to see how it has changed how we work. I’m happy to be here to see it all.â€
It's a wonderful world!
In her spare time, she enjoys decorating and designing, especially in her home. Liz is a mother of two beautiful girls and believe it or not, Liz is also a grandmother! She loves to spend time with her grandson, Kaiden who is two years old and full of energy! If you see Liz in Boston, Massachusetts it may not be her... she has an identical twin sister whom resides there!
I loved getting to know Liz, she is a bright and inspiring women. LCEC is so fortunate to have her!
