Pentana Solutions Receives Toastmasters’ Corporate Recognition Award

Public speaking organisation, Toastmasters International, recently recognised Pentana Solutions in Mount Waverley for its support of their Toastmasters club. The company sponsors the Pentana Toastmasters club where its employees meet to develop and strengthen their communication and leadership skills.

The award was presented by International Director David Fisher DTM on Wednesday the 16th May 2018.

‘Pentana Solutions has shown wonderful leadership by sponsoring its Toastmasters members,’ Liz Allwood, the District 73 Toastmasters Program Quality Director said. ‘Every workplace can benefit from a Toastmasters club. It helps people to sharpen their presentation skills, boost their team collaboration abilities, and shows them how to conduct effective meetings.’

Toastmasters is a world leading community based organisation that specialises in helping people to overcome their fear of public speaking, and become better communicators and leaders. The organisation has been running for more than ninety years and boasts over 300,000 memberships worldwide.

Pentana Solutions employees have embraced the club.

‘In less than two years, we have seen over 60 staff commit to the program,’ said the club’s President, Justin Shumack. ‘It takes little more than one visit to a meeting for our prospective members to ask ‘how do I join?’ Such is the strength of the program itself and our young club.’

The company also recognises the benefits the employees have received.

‘Leadership capability and strong, authentic communication skills are key to our Best People and Culture Pillar in our Drive 21 strategy,’ says Dearne Price, Executive of People and Culture. ‘Our goal is to enable people to be the best they can be. I’ve seen the opportunities the Toastmasters club gives our Pentana Solutions people, and seen them grow in confidence and communication skills. It's fabulous!’

The club is expected to receive another award later this year, as it has excelled in the Toastmasters’ Distinguished Club Program.
