How much is your pension returning you?
Not many people know the answer to this question. Which is shocking if you think about it.
We spend our whole lives paying into our pension schemes for the future and have no clue how it is truly performing.
And that's not to mention the potentially forgotten pensions that people have no idea they have sitting somewhere, usually from a job they worked in their past. Which could definitely be something worth looking into.
Another question to ask is will my pension be enough to see me right through my retirement years?
Again, it's a question many maybe aren't sure about or haven't given it enough thought.
Which is why there are an increasing amount of people out there at the moment who are looking at an alternative to the traditional pension route.
Could retirement be closer than you think?
And that alternative is a pension through Property Investing.
So, what exactly does a pension through property look like?
Well, simply put it would require some forward thinking as to what you want your life to look like once you do come to retire.
And again, there are some important questions to be asking yourself if you see property as an option to provide for you in your golden years.
What sort of lifestyle would you like to lead?
How much money would be required to be coming in every month to cover that lifestyle and cover all your outgoings?
Effectively you would need to figure out what your financial freedom number is.
Once you have that figure in mind, you can pretty much determine the number of properties you would need to have in your buy to let portfolio to produce that number every month.
For example, if £2,500 was the amount needed to cover your lifestyle, and if a property was producing say £250 per month positive cashflow after expenses. Then you would need to add 10 properties to your portfolio to achieve that level of income.
And, along with the security and peace of mind you've created for yourself...
Another benefit of building a property portfolio is that it is tangible and can be passed down to our loved ones when we pass on. Allowing them to benefit from the income producing assets throughout their lives also.
A pension through property is a subject that many people need to be giving thought to if they are to live a comfortable life when their working life is done.
It is a long-term game plan, but a plan the would be better actioning sooner rather than later.
And who knows, for those that do take the action sooner, retirement might not be as far away as they think.
